I am a Ph.D. student in the Biochemistry, Cellular & Molecular Biology Graduate Program at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.
I've recently joined the lab of Dr. Erin Goley, where I am studying the enigmatic biology of Rickettsia parkeri. R. parkeri belongs to a genus of bacteria that causes diseases like Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever and typhus.

NIH PREP Scholar
Funded by the National Institutes of Health, I was a student in the Post-baccalaureate Research Education Program at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. I studied the molecular pathogenesis and virulence of Candida glabrata in the lab of Dr. Brendan Cormack. I was also the Social Media Chair and an active member of the Johns Hopkins Science Policy Group.

College
I earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology at the University of Montevallo. Originally majoring in classical vocal performance, I successfully switched career trajectories to biomedical research. During my time in college I was the Vice President of the Pre-Health Professionals Society, placed as a finalist in a National Association of Teachers on Singing competition, and did research at my college and at the Johns Hopkins University. I supported myself financially during college working as a tutor and in food service.

Tutor for Varsity Tutors
I provided weekly, individual tutoring sessions with K-12 students and college students. My core objectives were to improve test scores, maintain current grades, and enhance study techniques. I tutored a range of science subjects, English and writing, as well as German.
